NASHVILLE, TN: Vanderbilt Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, Student Government, and Nashville Social Group are back again with the promise of a hot lineup for this year’s Lights on the Lawn Benefit Concert. Taking place on Friday, October 18th, and proudly sponsored by Southern Tide, Lights on the Lawn is the perfect way to spend your Friday night along with some of the hottest names in house music. Headlining the event is 3LAU, with direct support from Stratus, and accompanied by local Nashville talent, meaning that year’s concert will cover some of the best EDM in the US. In addition, the concert is for a great cause, with all proceeds going directly to the Mary Parrish Center for Victims of Domestic Violence. The Mary Parrish Center provides a therapeutic transitional living program and a myriad of loving, comprehensive services that enable survivors of domestic and sexual violence to heal from their abuse, reclaim their autonomy, and reawaken their hopes and dreams. The goal of Lights on the Lawn is to raise $55,000 for the Mary Parrish Center. This will provide the rent and utilities for 11 apartments, for one year, giving the residents of the Mary Parrish Center the opportunity to get back on their feet. Also noteworthy is the level of broad campus involvement that has made Lights on the Lawn a possibility. Lights on the Lawn Chair and Vanderbilt junior Patrick McGee notes that, “This event is unprecedented in the ways that it has brought the entire Vanderbilt community together. We could not be more excited to host this event, have a lot of fun, and do a great deal of good. In addition, there is no more worthy a recipient of our proceeds than the Mary Parrish Center.”

Over the past few years, Justin Blau, better known by his stage name, 3LAU, has established himself as one of the top electronic artists in the college EDM scene. Hailing from Las Vegas, 3LAU began releasing mashups – synthesizing top 40 vocals with electronic backdrops – in 2011 while still a student at Washington University in St. Louis (Wash U). In 2012, he decided to drop out of Wash U in order to pursue his music career, and from the look of it, it would seem that his choice has paid off. 3LAU has absolutely exploded over the past year having spent a considerable amount of time touring with Tiesto, and having a huge booking coming at Electric Zoo in 2013. His first original work, “Escape,” featuring Paris & Simo, was released this year on Revealed Recordings to critical acclaim within the dance music community.

Describing himself as a “23 year old bass music fellow,” and with roots in Chicago, Stratus has created a unique sound that has caught the attention of some of the biggest names in dance music. Most notably, his remix of Krewella’s “Killin’ It” was featured as the opening track on one of their mix sets this past year. The set, Troll Mix vol. 2, has been played over 440,000 times on Sound Cloud since its release. The actual remix itself has over 51,000 plays on SoundCloud. “This year’s lineup fills the massive void of premier EDM on campus,” says Nashville Social Group CEO and Vanderbilt senior Teddy Raskin. “3LAU and Stratus are two of the best up-and-coming artists in EDM right now, and we’re incredibly excited to bring them to Nashville.”
