Labrinth is an English singer, producer, & songwriter that is signed to Simon Cowell’s label Syco. Labrinth was behind the production to Tinie Tempah’s number 1 hit in the UK, “Pass Out”. The fact that he’s signed to Cowell’s label alone should prove to you that he is very talented musician. Being from the U.S., I didn’t know much about Labrinth until the music video for “Earthquake”, Labrinth’s third collaboration with Tinie Tempah, dropped in October. The official music video has a whopping 22.5 million view count currently on youtube and reached number 2 in the UK charts. So, as you can see, “Earthquake” took off in the UK, but why hasn’t it hit the US yet? I honestly don’t know considering how much I love the catchy, yet simple synths opening up track and the melodic chorus.
Just two days ago, the official remix to “Earthquake” dropped and featured a verse from Young Money’s new signee, (everyone should recognize him from the 90s though..) Busta Rhymes. With a NY rapper on the track, we may see “Earthquake” surface on the radio soon in the US. To be quite honest, I don’t even listen to the radio anymore…But anyways, do yourself a favor and download the track below. Also hit the jump to check out the official music video for the original version of “Earthquake” featuring Tinie Tempah. On a side note, Labrinth’s debut album, Electronic Earth is due out on March 19th.
